Our basic need for exploration without fear and with compassion

From time to time we need to remind ourselves of some simple truths. One simple truth we easily forget is of those things that once gave us innocence, healing and growth. The spirit of exploration is one of those things we are too willing to forget. In our childhood all kinds of exploration were an important part of our growing process - as we grow older, we increasingly forget the significance of exploration in keeping our inner self alive. To explore is as essential to our existence as is air and water. The key to keeping the spirit of exploration alive is to explore exploration itself.

Spiritual awakening begins with the exploration of inner senses, and with the creation of new kinds of awareness. To widen your spiritual explorations, for yourself and for others, you should work to remove fear, hate, greed, and the mental and emotional effects of pain from yourself and others. In working to remove these things, you will discover that they are sustained by numerous variations of fundamental biological forces: deeply rooted grasping and aversion. As you free yourself from the grip of these forces, you discover that inner senses can reveal much more than the workings of your inner world - the mind and feelings - they can also reveal the spiritual connections between you, others, nature's web of life, and maybe even mysteries that exist outside this physical universe.

For yourself and for others, strive to take away pain and fear. Take away hate and greed. Dive into the deepest realms of inner silence. Seek states of awareness where there is no fear, hate, greed, pain, no arousal, no agitation, no stress, no triggering of emotional memories.

Learn to be compassionate, generous, forgiving, kind, humble - these things heal the scars of pain, fear, hate and greed.

When many inner and outer senses become integrated, consciousness becomes a part of life. When they work together with the imagination, new forms of awareness - inner senses - are created.

Seek the tiniest of your inner senses. Explore. With less fear, these inner senses grow. As they grow, they sense more than your inner world - they begin to sense hidden channels to the outer world, and to the world of spirit.

Realizing the importance of inner exploration is spiritual enlightenment, inner freedom.
