Inner and spiritual exploration are sacred gifts of the Spirit
At some time in your life you have been encouraged to explore - often by your parents, friends, community, teachers, healers. Your memories of these experiences are frequently your most uplifting.
Even in the absence of such encouragement you still sense a pressure to explore that originates from within. We are fortunate to be blessed with this inner source of energy - the spirit of exploration.
This inner pressure to explore is intertwined with our sense and love of the mysterious and the unknown.
This deeply rooted urge to seek the wonders of life comes from the same web of forces from which this Universe emerged.
There is an immense creative energy in the play between this spirit of exploration and the inner labyrinths of belief, instincts and knowledge.
The spirit of exploration shapes all life by leading you to opportunities for the growth of new senses, new kinds of consciousness, new realms of the imagination, new forms of thought and memory.
We are all touched by this spirit of exploration at some point in our lives.
Whenever we resist this touch, we move away from those things that make life better for all of us.
The main ingredient of spiritual healing is learning how to revitalize your spirit of exploration.
At one time or another, spiritual teachers have given us the most fundamental lesson of spiritual healing: you can move closer to the Spirit through spiritual and inner exploration - but only when it is directed by intelligence, patience, compassion, humility, gentleness, generosity, kindness, forgiveness, respect for the dignity of others, acceptance of diversity, understanding the limitations of knowledge and belief, a feeling of readiness to let go of our attachments and aversions, and a willingness to explore beyond the frontiers of the known.
When we suppress this spirit, our lives sink into the self-made hells of fear and greed, darkening the fruits of our exploration - transforming them into the fuel for greater greed, deeper fears, rage, hate, aggression, violence, war, and all other forms of human destructiveness.
Can we stop fuelling the fear and greed?
