With this silence comes a sense of distance from the world of humans: the noise, pressures, struggles and anxieties of everyday life fade away. You begin to feel a different kind of awareness - it comes with a gentle clarity and a peace that seem impossible to disturb. We are driven by the same kinds of instinctive forces that exist in animals.
Society has tried to suppress and control our animal self for tens of thousands of years - believing that there is something better, more "noble".
Humans seek ways to suppress their inner animal - to render it insignificant - seeking to hide their animal origins. We create an idealized notion of "noble humanity" - and then inflict this ideal on our minds and hearts. Humans often try to distance themselves from their roots in the animal world. These ideals of the perfect self are derived from cultural and tribal collections of ideas and expectations about how we must shape our lives.
Take a moment to stop your pursuit of human things. Take a good look at your animal nature. Give your animal self a chance to express it's positive side. You will discover that your inner animal is capable of being more intelligent, dignified and wiser than your "noble" self.
When you sense animal intelligence and warmth - you feel a connection with the same intelligence and warmth that dwells within the web of nature - which is shared with our animal relatives. One of the reasons we care for our animal companions is because we feel compelled to connect in a caring and nurturing way with our own inner animal.
We create problems for ourselves by mistreating and ignoring our inner animal. When an animal is kept in unnatural confinement, when it feels it's needs are ignored, when it feels suppressed and misunderstood - it can become intensely agitated and aggressive. When your inner animal is pushed into the subconscious regions of the mind, it reacts like that suppressed animal and it will seek ways to inflict it's agitation and aggravation on your conscious mind, your body and your emotions. When you mistreat your inner animal, it becomes an amplifier of stress in your life - making the stresses of modern day living more destructive to your mind, emotions, body and spirit.
Learning to bring yourself to a state of silence is one of the most effective ways of healing your inner life. It results in a transformation of the way you relate to your inner animal. Learning to respect the wisdom and intelligence of your inner animal is vital to the future of the human race. By coming to peace with your inner animal it becomes an ally in your quest for spiritual wisdom and prosperity - instead of a constant source of stress.
We are forever seeking inspiration and fresh perspectives in our lives. An ever increasing number of us are seeking spiritual directions that are not rooted in religious, political and other belief and authoritarian systems.
Many people feel a deep compulsion to find their own ways to discover and explore new perspectives on spirituality and life.
Take a moment to contemplate our web of insights - inspired by visions of spirit and by explorations of nature's entangled web of life.
There's this erroneous movement in your thoughts and emotions - it convinces you that you are right - you often feel utterly convinced that you must be right - after all: if you feel right you must be right!
This feeling, this compulsion that you are right, the feeling that you "KNOW" is not what it seems - it is nothing more than a misinterpretation of a primitive instinct: the instinctive feeling that is aroused when all your other instincts are shouting out that you could be on a worthwhile trail of exploration.
Take a moment to think about the distinction - "being totally right" versus "being on a promising trail of exploration".
Being convinced that you know everything there is to know about something. Versus: having a strong feeling that your current path will lead to something of value.
Most of the time, there is no technical reason for you to be convinced that some idea, memory, thought or feeling is completely and absolutely right. You have mistaken "instinctive exploratory strategies" for "knowing with certainty"! You are merely the victim of your incorrect interpretation of your matrix of exploratory instincts.
This mistaken application of exploratory instincts is unfortunately a big part of many people's lives - and over tens of thousands of years it has led to all the problems we face today.
This fundamental error of human nature has given birth to religion, tribalism, politics, ambition, lust for power, greed, hate, world-wide fear saturation.
The fact is: even the best form of knowledge is riddled with uncertainty, incompleteness - there is no justification for being convinced of the absoluteness of anything. And yet we often have this feeling of the absoluteness of our beliefs....
You have fallen for the illusion of knowing and belief - and this illusion constrains your spirit of exploration. You do have a powerful impulse to explore the unseen, the mysterious, sublime and sacred. You do have a sense that this is something you must do for yourself. But your beliefs and misunderstandings about the nature of your knowledge have drained and misdirected your exploratory energies. Unwittingly, your beliefs have turned you away from a vast web of spiritual energies that can only be discovered when you find for yourself the deep spiritual value of exploring the limitations of your mind, beliefs, habitual thoughts and emotions.
Evolution is nature's way of creating novel forms of intelligence. Evolution itself evolves - providing opportunities for all life-forms to discover greater wisdom and intelligence.
This thread of insights will show you new directions for your journey towards spiritual enlightenment. You are encouraged to begin your journey with an awakening of novel kinds of awareness through meditation.
Nature's web has given birth to many kinds of intelligence. The most familiar kinds of intelligence move within our neural structures and a vast and diverse array of complex organic processes - vaguely like programs that operate within the circuits of our computers.
Novel kinds of intelligence can be found within the currents and fields that emerge from the total biological energy of living beings. On a larger scale, subtle living fields created from the entire biomass of our planet are the medium of nature's intelligence.
From Nature's web of living fields and intelligences emerges primitive living creatures with a DNA-based intelligence: instincts. Humans are governed by the same instinctive core that we find in most animals - there is an animal nature within us.
Through our inner animal we are connected to nature's network of intelligences. This instinctive core is connected in subtle ways with a spiritual intelligence that moves within nature's web of life.

The drive to explore inner worlds takes us to the source of wisdom
All living beings have a fundamental need to explore. Your personality shapes how you choose the domain of your exploration - you explore the outer world - or maybe the inner universe of mind, emotion and consciousness - or you explore the dynamics of subtle energies that connects all things - or maybe all of these things.
The inner explorer discovers unexpected sources of wisdom.
With this discovery comes insight into new fields of spiritual freedom.
Inner exploration will lead you to new universes.
You will find more expansive, more powerful and creative currents of evolution.
With time you will be able to discern many new dynamics within the endless dance of life-energies.
By exploring these subtle dynamics you will discover unexpected avenues of connection between all things.
With these insights you will break free from the limitations of your primitive fight-flight-based evolution.
Inner exploration means exploring inner forces, inner senses, subtle flows of thought, the dynamics of emotion and the fabric of memory.
Inner exploration is nurtured by a gentle state of watchfulness.
By practicing this state of watchfulness you can explore the inner play of the conditioned mind.
By understanding the structure and dynamics of your conditioned mind you can begin to navigate your life towards a truly meaningful kind of freedom.
The keys to inner exploration are:
- exploring ways of silencing the inner forces of grasping and aversion
- being mindful of the movements within your conditioned nature
- learning how to be gently watchful - how to detect an awakening of your subtle inner senses and energies
- coming to a comprehension of the blockages to inner exploration.
Some day the world will no longer have the pleasure of your presence. But all is not lost - Mother Nature will remember all of you - for as long as she is able to survive. Treat her with the respect she deserves - so that she may carry the memories of you for a very long time.
