When Fear and Greed Capture the Imagination - A Message from the Spirit

There is danger when fear or greed catch your imagination - it's the danger of escalation of small differences between people into bigger conflicts and all-out war. You are basically animals. The main things that distinguish you from the animals are:-

• the levels of complexity that your minds and emotions can sustain
• the degree of detail, analysis and conceptual modelling that your brains can support
• the number of concepts and memories you can consider at one time
• the level of creativity, inventiveness, imagination, artistic ability
• the distance (that is, the amount of consideration, thought, analysis) you can place between your decisions/reactions and the events that affect you

Animals have fear and greed. In animals these basic instincts are aroused by basic biological and environmental conditions - as with humans. But with humans - when these instincts grab the imagination, shaping their thoughts and emotions - they take on a life of their own. Basic primitive instincts take on destructive force when they are amplified in your minds and hearts - its like letting someone in unstoppable rage into a room full of explosives.

So what do you do? Do you try to train your minds to seperate from these basic instincts? Or do you train your inner animal and higher minds to cooperate, to serve the benefit of self and others? Or, do you seek a better understanding of the nature of your inner being? The answer is: you do all of these and more - under the guidance of the spirit of exploration, governed by compassion, honesty, forgiveness, generosity, respect for the web of life, and to move closer to the web of spiritual energies that connects all things to the wisdom and love of the Great Spirit.
